ALL ABOUT LAUREN
Nursing background and certifications:
I have been a NICU nurse for almost 10 years (10 years in August!) I received my bachelors of science in Nursing from the University of Iowa. I started my NICU nursing career at a a hospital in Kansas City, after a couple of years I moved to Chicago and began working in the NICU where I still continue to work today! I also used my nursing back found as a Studio Instructor for Metta Baby, Chicago’s first infant wellness studio – if you haven’t heard of it you should definitely check it out! I am a registered nurse (BSN), CPR, BLS, NRP and PALS certified and will officially be a breastfeeding counselor this summer!
Mama + family background:
I am a proud mama to 2 sweet girls – Delaney (3.5 years) and Margot (9 months). My husband, Keane, and I have been married for 5 years this June. We met at the University of Iowa and have been together ever since! We love living in the city of Chicago (Roscoe Village) and can’t imagine raising our family anywhere else!
Why I am excited to start working for bumble.baby:
Kate has created such an amazing community and I can’t wait to connect with all of you! I’m excited to offer encouragement and help with the knowledge I have from being a nurse and also a mom myself. Being a mom is exciting, overwhelming, rewarding and exhausting all at the same time and I want to provide support, advice and encouragement in the most helpful way that I can!
Services I will be offering:
- Bottle consults (in-home and virtual)
- Videochat and text consults about ANYTHING (other than sleep)
- CPR in-home + refresh
- Breastfeeding counselor (coming this summer)
Difficulties I’ve encountered in motherhood:
Learning that what works for one mom/baby is not the only solution. It’s easy to compare your situation to other families but every baby/family is different and has different needs. Only you know what’s best for your baby and family!
I have also learned that with children everything is a phase! As soon as you think you’re in a good routine (or struggling with a bad one!) something will change and a new phase will begin. Motherhood is all about rolling with the punches and adapting to your children’s ever changing needs and development.
My favorite part of motherhood:
Watching my children learn, grow and develop their own little personalities. Seeing the world through my children’s eyes is so refreshing and rewarding.
What I can’t live without as a mom:
As a mom, I can’t live without coffee in the AM, wine in the PM and my amazing group of supportive mama friends and family!
