4 ways to use your Slumberpod with a toddler

Transitions for babies and toddlers can be tough! Any change in routine – daycare, vacation, room sharing, adding a new sibling – can throw a wrench in your baby or toddler’s sleep habits. It’s common and normal! As a sleep consultant, one staple item to help keep sleep on track during these transitions is the SlumberPod. Read more about why I love the SlumberPod and how to use the SlumberPod for your baby here.

But sleep in toddlers – especially once they are not in a crib anymore – can REALLY challenging. For me, sleep with my babies was much easier. Once they were able to climb out of the crib and transition to a toddler bed, sleep got difficult!

A creative and effective way to utilize your SlumberPod is to make sleep fun again with your toddler. The SlumberPod not only makes it feel like a camping trip, but the light-blocking and breathable fabric allows for a space that feels all their own. We know that babies love containment (swaddling is key!), and toddlers like to feel contained in a developmentally appropriate way. The SlumberPod gives your toddler a contained feel with letting them feel in control by giving them the ability to exit the pod if needed. They truly will love it!

What can I use with the SlumberPod for my toddler?

So many great options for this! As long as the item is within the parameters of the SlumberPod, you’re golden! We’ve lined up our favorites below.

1. Portable crib or portable crib mattress

If your toddler will still stay in a portable crib, this is a super easy option for travel and something you most likely already have. If not, using an insert for a portable crib under the SlumberPod is a great option! Please note that we do not recommend using a mattress insert with a portable crib.

2. Blow up mattress or foldable toddler mattress

A toddler blow up mattress is an easy option to save space. This toddler blow up mattress has built in bumpers to keep your toddler from rolling off the mattress.

Another option is this foldable toddler mattress that will fit nicely under the SlumberPod.

3. Toddler cot

These toddler cots are perfect for the SlumberPod! They are so easy to assemble, store, and are elevated off the ground to create a familiar feel to a bed.

4. Sleeping bag

Make it fun! We love a good “indoor camping” kind of night. The SlumberPod can easily be used over a sleeping bag and toddler pillow. Our house favorites are this adorable customizable dog sleeping bag that Ro has or this shark one for Finn.
