Why we love Ripple Kids Milk
Deciding on a dairy-free milk alternative can be so overwhelming! I wanted to be sure to choose a cow’s milk alternative that provides my children with all of the recommended nutrients that they need. Read on to discover how we use Ripple Milk in our home.
What is Ripple?
Ripple/Ripple Kids is a pea-protein plant-based milk. It is soy-free, nut-free, gluten-free, lactose- free and vegan. Ripple delivers 8g of plant-based protein. This is exactly what we want to see for our ever growing littles!
Ripple has far less sugar than dairy milk! You can utilize the Unsweetened Original Ripple over Ripple Kids if you want an even lower sugar count. Ripple Kids actually has higher calcium content than dairy milk!
There is plenty of probiotic fiber to support digestion and healthy DHA omega-3’s for brain building nutrition. You can click on the hyperlinks above to get an in depth nutrition breakdown on Ripple milk as well!
Transitioning from breastmilk/formula to Ripple Kids
When my youngest was four months old we discovered that she had a dairy soy protein intolerance. As her first birthday crept up, I developed a little anxiety thinking about what type of milk we would transition her to after she was finished with breastmilk/formula.
I knew of the common choices such as almond milk/oat milk etc. but I was not pleased with the ingredient breakdown and lack of necessary protein/fat and DHA factors.
After doing further research, I spoke with my pediatrician about Ripple Kids and he was on board!
I began transitioning my daughter to Ripple Kids Milk right around her first birthday. I kept it simple and mixed in one ounce of Ripple Kids Milk with each of her breastmilk/formula bottles for the first half of the week.
I bumped it up to two ounces of Ripple mixed with her breastmilk/formula during the second half of the first week. By end of week two, I was able to easily transition her to Ripple Milk exclusively. We even created our own user-friendly transitioning to Ripple calendar e-guide here!
How we use Ripple in our home
My son does not have a dairy/soy protein intolerance, but we did not feel it was necessary to buy so many different milk options in our home. Our four-year-old drinks Ripple as well. He’s a chocolate milk lover so we frequently snag Ripple Chocolate!
I had to eliminate dairy from my diet when I was breastfeeding my youngest and it was really difficult at first. I was so thankful to still indulge in ice cream thanks to Ripple!
I swapped out my coffee creamer with their half and half as well! My husband loves having their protein shakes for an on-the-go breakfast in the morning as well!
Ultimately we have a lot of dairy-free milk choices. For us what worked was researching what ingredients our children needed in order to promote healthy growth and then deciding on a milk choice from there in conjunction with our pediatrician.
I’m grateful to have found a dairy-free alternative that still provides the necessary nutrients my little ones need to thrive in conjunction with a well-rounded diet!
