5 Reasons why I love Cerebelly

As a mom of three littles under four, I’m always in search of healthy food options for my kids that are convenient for me as well. Which is why Cerebelly is a fan favorite in our household!

If you’ve been following along my feeding journey, then you know that my eldest has a feeding disorder. In addition to enrolling him in the appropriate therapies (occupation therapy and speech therapy in our case) I’ve had to get extremely creative with getting vegetables into my son.

Cerebelly’s products are veggie first, organic and have no sugar added! My eldest loves the smoothie pouches and my middle child is able to enjoy purees and smart bars.

My eldest really enjoys turning the pouches into “popsicles” by squeezing them into reusable popsicle molds that we have. It’s a fun little sensory activity too. When he inevitably asks for ice cream at ten am, I can pretty easily re-route him to a Cerebelly “popsicle”.

Cerebelly’s purees and smart bars are also free of the top eight allergens. This was super important for me as my middle child had a dairy protein intolerance up until she was nearly two years old.

Evidence based nutrition

Everything that we do here at Bumblebaby is evidence based, that includes meal time! Cerebelly utilizes science backed nutrition utilizing age-appropriate milestones.

As a psychotherapist, I’m no stranger to developmental and behavioral milestones.

However when it comes to feeding, I can use all the support that I can get. Cerebelly has this super quick quiz that you can take which will suggest which products are the most appropriate based on your little one’s age and milestones.

16 essential nutrients covered

Cerebelly’s products include 16 essential nutrients necessary for brain development. The ingredients are: Vitamin D, Iron, Vitamin A, Vitamin B6, Vitamin B12, Zinc, Copper, Niacin, Folate, Iodine, Selenium, Choline, Protein, DHA, Vitamin E, and Lutein.

So why is this important? Well, to put it simply, a LOT of the brain cells that we have now are the same ones we had at the age of three. Meaning that the ages of 0-3 are a crucial time as far as ingesting brain supporting nutrients goes. Parenting styles definitely vary, but we can agree on the importance of brain growth.

For comparison, the average baby food brand only has 2-4 of these ingredients. Not only does this ensure that your little one is getting the essential nutrients that they need so that their brain can grow, it also mitigates you having to buy several different food items in order to ensure that they are consuming the nutrients that they need.

Let’s face it, as parents, we have enough on our plates-like literally! There is nothing wrong with outsourcing our little one’s nutrition-especially in order to assist with healthy development and growth.

 Clean label certification

Do you remember when news reports came out last year discussing the amount of heavy metals in baby food? Yeah, me too. It’s important to remember that even the baby food that we make at home contains amounts of heavy metals.

Cerebelly is the first ever shelf stable baby food brand to receive the Clean label project purity award. The clean label project tests for the presence over 400 contaminants including heavy metals.

This means that Cerebelly’s line is as “clean” as can be! In fact, Cerebelly not only rigorously tests their products, but they hand select their farmers and purveyors. This is done on a continuous, on-going basis.

Philanthropy

It goes without saying that millions of families are financially struggling currently. Cerebelly is partnered with the non-profit baby2baby which provides diapers, clothing, and other necessities. This was a huge selling point for myself as I’m making a conscious effort to examine the ethics and mission of the businesses that I am supporting.

No guess work needed

One of the main reasons that Cerebelly is such an asset to parents is because they have done all of the “leg work” as far as breaking down which nutrients are crucial at certain stages of development. I know I can’t be the only parent who has constantly had to Google what they should be feeding their seven-month-old, etc! Cerebelly’s founder, Dr. Teresa Purzner is a neurosurgeon, Stanford PhD developmental neurobiologist and mom of three.

She compiled a team of experts to develop this line of food so that our little’s are being fed food that is optimal for brain growth.
